“Serving in the World” at La Borde Blanque, France

We are delighted to invite you to la Borde Blanque in southern France for the annual INEH Teacher Conference 2020.
La Borde Blanque is an authentic French country farmhouse. It is situated on the crest of a hill with a magnificent view over the surrounding countryside. It has a private lakeside beach on the beautiful Lac de Montbel, with clear and clean water to swim. The 12 acre estate in the foothills of the Pyrenees is defined on one side by the natural boundary of the river Hers and on the on the others by the lake and the neighbouring forest. Old pilgrim routes through the varied landscape offer numerous opportunities for hiking. At la Borde Blanque, we aim to live in an ecological and sustainable way. On the property there is a natural spring, from which we receive our mineral water and our solar panels provide in almost all our energy. Our center is financed by the Triodos Bank. |

Conference Details:
As theme for our conference this year we propose: ‘Serving in the World’
With this theme we hope to build on our group process with the seed thoughts brought in at the 2019 Conference in The Netherlands
and we invite you to reflect upon this theme and to share yourthoughts and inspirations.
We propose to have the afternoons free, as we are used to in ourRetreat Center Borde Blanque. So people can have a siesta after lunch, enjoy a walk or a swim, or a cultural visit.This means we’ll have an intense morning program and a lighter evening programme.
How to travel:
By Plane-
La Borde Blanque is about 70 miles south of Toulouse and Carcassonne.
In October there are direct flights to Toulouse and Carcassonne by KLM, Air France as well as Easy Jet and Ryanair. For Trans-Atlantic flights one can fly via Paris or Amsterdam toToulouse. Or one can either fly to Barcelona or Gerona in Spain. We are a 4 hours drive/ by train from Barcelona/Gerona.
By Train-
The nearest train station is Pamiers, next is Carcassonne. From Toulouse, it is one hour by train to Pamiers. From Barcelona/Gerona it is 3-4 hours by train to Carcassonne.
Shared Taxi-
From the nearest airport or train station we can arrange a pick-up by shared taxi or minibus for combined arrival times.
Shared Rental Car-
We strongly recommend to hire a car in groups at the airport. Public transport is limited and you may want to be flexible to be able to explore the beautiful surroundings in your free hours.
NB: Please let us know your arrival times as soon as you can! We’ll connect people who arrive at similar times at similar airports to share a hired car or taxi to come to Borde Blanque from the different airports nearby.
Accommodation at la Borde Blanque:
The house and conference room are spacious enough to accommodate all participants at daytime. We’ll be able to accommodate 12-14 people in the house for the night. Other accommodations We have found two other friendly accommodations nearby (5-10min. by car). For those who stay overnight in these other accommodations, there will be plenty of quiet spaces and several facilities at la Borde Blanque to enjoy their quiet time in the afternoons.
Meals:
We’ll share all meals together at la Borde Blanque. Our French cook Bernard will provide us with delicious vegetarian meals and is open
to adapt to your dietary wishes.
What to bring
Apart from the obvious, bring warm clothes! We are in the countryside and the mountains. Although the temperatures in the afternoons may well be a pleasant 25 C or more, in October the temperature in the mornings and evenings will
be quite a bit cooler and may vary widely. So, bring warm clothes, as well as clothes for sunny weather and
even your swimmers and sturdy outdoor shoes as well as warm indoor slippers.
Ecological toiletries:
We kindly request you to bring and use only ecological toiletarticles. La Borde Blanque has a natural spring offering us our drinking water. All waste water is collected in a fosse septique, being purified and returning to our land. The land takes care of us and we take care of the land. We thank you for your cooperation!

Extra nights:
We invite you to stay some extra days as a guest in our wonderful retreat center to relax, enjoy and explore the beautiful environment of la Borde Blanque a few days more. You are welcome to arrive from Thursday 8 October 15.30 and to stay on after the conference until Saturday 17 after breakfast. Prices will be € 40 (= $ 45 = £ 31) p.p.p.n for double occupancy including breakfast.
